Social Dance tuition
Take a step into dance
Dance Reflex offers group classes and private lessons in Singapore; in a supportive atmosphere aimed at enjoyable social dancing. A dance class is a great way to meet people and gain a little exercise. We teach partner dances from complete beginner upwards, explaining and demonstrating the steps and technique from both the 'leader' and 'follower' perspective.
Group lessons are available at The British Club or The Swiss Club (enquire direct or via the respective sports department - If a course isn't currently running, but you have a number of people interested, talk to us about your requirements). Alternatively, try a private lesson; whether you want to dance for fun, or prepare for an event where you have to dance for the first time (e.g. Wedding first dance). A lesson can be tailored to suit, at a pace to match your needs. With our mobile dance lessons, we can even come to you.

What should I wear to dance?
On the feet - A shoe with a smooth sole that will stay on your foot when raising your heel. Trainers should be avoided, as rubber soled shoes will give too much grip and put strain on the knees. A leather sole is good, but flip flops or sandals are not advisable. If you dance regularly, investing in a pair of proper dance shoes is definetely worthwhile, but starting off as a beginner, normal shoes are generally acceptable.
Clothes - Something comfortable that will allow freedom of movement.
Do I need a partner?
Private / personal lessons can be one-to-one tuition with the instructor, a couple, or up to four persons. For group classes it is always helpful to come with friends or a partner, but we do encourage rotation of partners during a class. This makes a more social atmosphere and generally helps the learning process. If you wish to stay with your own partner, please let the teacher know at the start of the class to avoid confusion later on.
Are there any age restrictions?
Our classes are aimed at adults, 18 years and upwards. There is no upper limit, but bear in mind that dance is an aerobic exercise, so please seek appropriate guidance beforehand if you have any medical concerns, existing conditions or injuries.
When and where do you teach your private dance lessons?
Private lessons are arranged by appointment (daytime slots are available) at a location convenient for you. This could be your home, a function room, or anywhere that space is available (open air lessons are also possible as long as the ground surface is suitable). For members of The British Club or The Swiss Club, lessons can be arranged via the respective sports department.
